In place of the planned full concert this Sunday, 11 September at 2pm, in Locke Park Bandstand, Old Silkstone Band played music in keeping with the period of mourning for HM Queen Elizabeth. Very enjoyable and appreciated.
Locke Park events in 2022
Locke Park has remained open throughout the different lockdowns and restrictions for everyone to enjoy. This is what’s happening in 2022 …
Locke Park café is open and the play equipment areas are in use. Bowling is taking place on the greens and you can join the parkrun and junior parkrun at 9am on each Saturday and Sunday.
Friends of Locke Park are opening Locke Park Tower for visits from 2pm until 4pm on the first Sunday of each month.
Band concerts are taking place, funded by Kingstone Ward Alliance: Sundays between 2pm and 4pm on 12 June, 3 July, 17 July, 14 August and 11 September in 2022.
Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club is running Classic Car events on Sunday 12 June and Sunday 14 August 2022
Race for Life has its Barnsley event in Locke Park on Sunday 3 July in support of Cancer Research 2022
BIADS are running a charity event in Locke Park with stalls on Sunday 17 July 2022.

Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club have a classic car rally in Locke Park on Sunday 8 August. It’s a YTCC classic car show with no other activities or stalls. Cars for the rally will be arriving from 9.30am for the day.
People coming to Locke Park in the usual way for the play area, cafe or a walk can park in the normal car park at the beginning of Keresforth Hall Road.
YTCC members and visitors for the rally will drive into the park using the gated entrance further along Keresforth Hall Road.
The junior parkrun is not taking place on this day.
A new, very popular, and still changing, addition to Locke Park. A little more to do once the weather is a bit warmer. The images are based on the films Labyrinth and Dark Crystal and then there’s a fairy garden too! Lots to spot!
Cancellation of events. As a result of Covid-19 virus regulations, we have cancelled the events that Friends of Locke Park usually runs and we are not opening Locke Park Tower until further notice. We are very sorry about this but everyone’s health and wellbeing has to be our priority. Watch out for events returning -once it’s safe to do so.

Your views. Friends of Locke Park are working with Barnsley Council Parks Team on a bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for improvements to Locke Park.
This will be the first part of a longer term plan to preserve Locke Park’s heritage, improve its environment and facilities, and make it an even better place to visit.
