Have you seen them yet?
Taylormade Signs & Banners have put three (yes three!) interpretation boards in Locke Park: for the Tower, Bandstand and Joseph Locke Statue.
Have you seen them? All three?
It’s great to see people having a look at the information with old images of these reminders of our heritage. And to hear how much they are appreciated.
Thanks to Barnsley Round Table and Kingstone Ward Alliance who, together with ourselves, Friends of Locke Park, funded them. And to Taylormade Signs for producing them.
There are more to come too!
A recently completed, very popular, addition to Locke Park. Images of Narnia and The NeverEnding Story join those based on the films Labyrinth and Dark Crystal. Great work undertaken by the gifted artist Andy B. Lots to enjoy …

Sarah Dewey visited and produced this collage of characters in the paintings. Much appreciated! Every visit you see something different!!
And then there’s the fairy garden too!

A new, very popular, and still changing, addition to Locke Park. A little more to do once the weather is a bit warmer. The images are based on the films Labyrinth and Dark Crystal and then there’s a fairy garden too! Lots to spot!

Locke Park. There are 47 acres of Barnsley’s Locke Park, only a mile from Barnsley’s town centre, with gardens, trees and open grass, historic tower and bandstand, bowling greens, games and play areas, and a café.
Come to the park to have walks and have picnics, take your children to the play area, meet up with friends, visit the café, play games, get exercise, enjoy the views and heritage, and have a good time.
Get to Locke Park on foot from Park Road. 44 & 43 buses stop on Park Road near the entrances.
The Car Park is off Keresforth Hall Road, S70 6NF, – just follow the signs.

Volunteering. Friends of Locke Park welcomes volunteers to help with gardening and other activities. Please get in touch by talking to us in the park or email: info@friendsoflockepark.org.uk
Once it is possible, we intend having meetings again. They are usually on the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm at Locke Park Cafe. We are always keen to hear your views.
Friends of Locke Park is a group of volunteers who are interested in preserving the heritage of Locke Park and in improving the Park and its facilities for everyone.
